How to Prepare for a Maternity Photoshoot

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Our maternity sessions are customized and tailored to the preferences of each client.  Some clients prefer clean and simple artistic nude photographs and wraps, while others prefer to be fully clothed.

Complete professional retouching is included in your session and you don’t have to worry about any imperfections such as blemishes, stretch marks and certain body contours.  We specialize in the most comprehensive and detailed editing and will enhance and transform the image into a stunning work of art.

During your photo shoot, Anya will guide you to achieve most flattering poses, you don’t have to worry about it at all.

Your privacy is taken very seriously and your maternity images will not be used in any way without your consent.  Your images will never leave studio and Anya will personally retouch each one of them.

For the shoot day I will provide a robe, though you are welcome to bring your own.  Feel free to to bring any items you feel will help you to feel comfortable on the day of the shoot - slippers, flip flops, snacks.  Please let me know if you have any dietary restrictions.

Please bring a pair of nude underwear (thong) and a strapless nude bra, they are recommended for certain set ups with fabrics.  Feel free to bring anything else that looks beautiful on you.  Our studio is stocked with silk fabrics for draping, beautiful gowns and skirt/ crop top pieces and gorgeous gowns in various colors and designs.  If you’d like to get some lingerie shots, please go ahead and bring something that looks good (lace detail is always pretty).  For a more modern look, you can bring your favorite pre-pregnancy jeans - they get photographed with the open front to accommodate your belly.

The baby’s father is welcome to participate in the session.  He would need to bring a pair of jeans, a couple of fitted t-shirts, or a dress shirt (solid, in dark tones).

Please follow these tips before your session:

Please ensure that legs and armpits are cleanly shaven.

Waxing/plucking eyebrows and any facial hair is recommended a day or two in advance to prevent redness.

Get a mani/pedi a day or two in advance.  Natural/ pastel tones are recommended.

Please arrive to the studio with your hair clean and dry.  Wear a light moisturizer on your face, no makeup.

Please avoid wearing tight underwear on the day of your session, arrive to the studio in loose clothing to prevent body marks.

And, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any further questions!   I look forward to meeting you soon!
